Burnt to a Crisp in Dallas – How to Deal with a Sunburn
2009
Okay…Thought I’d let you in on my “drama”…LOL
On Saturday, I went out to watch my hubby and friends play beach volleyball and thought I’d get a head start on my Texas tan!
I went to the tanning bed only a few times in Canada, but got an okay base tan, just so I wouldn’t burn, as I know we are very active and “outdoorsy” and I didn’t want to burn.
So, it was very cool and overcast in the morning, but I wore my bikini anyway! It warmed up and I got to catch some rays.
After a few hours of sitting in the lawnchair, having a good time chatting and chasing volleyballs, I decided to walk around to be sure my back side got some color too.
My hubby told me I was looking “a little pink”.
When we got home after, no word of a lie, I was as red as a boiled lobster! Yup…it’s Monday evening and I’m still very red.
I am in serious pain and have been slathering on Noxzema for the past days in hopes of cooling my skin that feels like it’s on fire…not to mention copious amounts of aloe vera gel and cream on my face!
Many people think Noxzema is only for cleansing your face…not true! Before I even knew you could use it for your face, we used to use it when I was young for sunburns…that or Solarcaine…
It has eucalyptus oil in it, and it cools your skin. Just slather it on and you’ll feel relief pretty quickly. Just be sure to keep reapplying as needed.
I burned in places I’ve never burned before, like my toes, my fingers, wrists, crack of your elbow, your knee caps! Seriously? Wow!
Texas sun is very strong people, so when using a tanning lotion, cream or gel, be sure it has some higher SPF than the one I used with 4.
Bring a light top that you can throw on so you can stop the “insanity”! LOL…
What you should know about my skin is that if I do burn, which is rare, I will be brown the next morning…no problem! I spend a lot of time outside during sports and other recreation activities…
Be careful out there this summer – protect your skin…that sun is strong!!!

Hi Cindy,
Well, it really soothes the sunburn, that’s for sure – it’s slightly moisturizing too!
It’s the only reason I could fall asleep with such a bad burn…
